Srinagar, Dec. 18 -- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday objected to the proposed allotment of land in Pulwama district to the Border Security Force (BSF), stating that security camps should not be established in the middle of inhabited villages.

Urging Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene, Mehbooba said the land identified for the proposed camp in Puchal village is home to apple and almond orchards, and also serves as a safe zone for residents during floods.

"In such a situation, handing over such fertile land to the BSF, right in the middle of the village, is not appropriate. Security forces should not be stationed within villages," Mehbooba told reporters after visiting the area. ...
