Srinagar, Jan. 31 -- As the Waqf Amendment Bill is all set to be tabled in Parliament's ongoing Budget Session, former J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has reached out to two key allies of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seeking their intervention to oppose the Bill.
Mufti on Friday wrote to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who heads the Janata Dal (Union), and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, head of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In her letter, she said the proposed Waqf amendment bill comes at a time when, for the past decade, Muslims have been systematically disenfranchised, disempowered, marginalised politically, socially, and economically.
