Shillong, Dec. 19 -- One person sustained minor injuries and a water tanker was damaged in an Improvised-Explosive-Device (IED) blast in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district on Monday night, police said on Thursday.
The outlawed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has claimed responsibility for igniting the IED blast at the Dhar Company in Shymplong village in Narpuh, East Jaintia Hills district.
A police officer said three suspects have been picked up for their alleged involvement in the blast.
"The water tanker was damaged and the driver was slightly injured," Vikash Kumar, the district police chief of East Jaintia Hills, said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the IED was made with commercial grade gelatine.
