Shillong, Aug. 20 -- Former members of the erstwhile militant group - the A'chik National Volunteers' Council (ANVC) and its breakaway faction ANVC-B - have constituted a new group christened 'Unified Group of Garo Accord Signatories'.
Both the militant groups signed an agreed-text settlement with the central government and the state government on September 24, 2014, in the presence of then Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma among others.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, the Unified Group of Garo Accord Signatories asked the government to fulfill provisions of the agreed text of settlement.
