Shillong, Feb. 14 -- Meghalaya police on Friday picked up a social media user over spreading misinformation that Cabinet Minister Marcuise Marak has been assassinated by the militant outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA).



The individual has been picked from Tura in West Garo Hills district after an FIR was filed by the minister against a social media page "The Garo Hills Times" on Facebook stating that such false reports could lead to "panic incite unrest and pose a grave threat to public order and security."
