Shillong, Feb. 27 -- Health authorities in Meghalaya has issued a public health advisory following reports of suspected cases of meningococcal disease in the state.

The State Surveillance Unit (SSU) has been notified of suspected meningococcal infections.

The District Surveillance Unit (DSU) of East Khasi Hills, in coordination with the SSU, has launched an active epidemiological investigation.

"Measures such as case investigation, contact tracing, laboratory review and enhanced surveillance are currently underway," Commissioner & Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Joram Beda said in a notification.
