Shillong, Feb. 17 -- The Meghalaya government will table the report of the expert committee on the state reservation policy on Wednesday during the ongoing Budget Session of the Meghalaya Assembly, Health and Family Welfare minister Wailadmiki Shylla said on Tuesday.

The expert committee headed by Justice (Retd) Mool Chand Garg was constituted in 2023 to review Meghalaya's 1972 reservation policy.

"The cabinet has approved the proposal for consideration of the report. It will be tabled on Wednesday on the floor of the house," Shylla said.

The current framework provides for 40 per cent reservation each for Khasi-Jaintia and Garo communities, 5 per cent for other Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, and 15 per cent for the unreserved cat...
