Shillong, Feb. 12 -- The Centre has approved a six-month extension in service of the incumbent Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) Idashisha Nongrang.
Nongrang was to superannuated on May 19, 2026. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal for extension in service of Nongrang, IPS (Assam-Meghalaya -1992 cadre), as a special case in public interest.
The extension has been approved as a special case in public interest, relaxing provisions under Rule 16(1) of the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.
