Shillong, Feb. 6 -- Two owners of the illegal coal mine where 18 miners were killed and many others are feared trapped inside the coal mine following a massive dynamite explosion at Mynsngat Thangkso area in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills district, have been arrested, officials said on Friday.

Eight miners, including three Nepalese nationals, two from Assam and a local miner from East Jaintia Hills, have been rescued with burns and signs of inhalation injuries and admitted to hospitals in Meghalaya's state capital, Shillong.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday joined the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Special Rescue Team (SRT) in their rescue efforts to trace trapped miners.
