Shillong, Nov. 26 -- The Meghalaya Cabinet on Wednesday adopted the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding use of sirens, beacons, and tinted glasses on official vehicles.

The SOPs would clearly spell out who is entitled for privileges when it comes to use of sirens, beacons and tinted glasses, to stop their misuse, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said after chairing the cabinet at the iconic Wards Lake.

Under the SOP, he said official vehicles with Z category security would be allowed to use tinted glasses.

"Police vehicles, emergency services and pilot escort vehicles of VVIPs and VIPs would be allowed to use sirens," the Chief Minister said.
