Shillong, April 3 -- Former Meghalaya minister and BJP legislator, Alexander Laloo Hek, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing serious apprehension over the union government's introduction of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) (FCRA) Amendment Bill, 2026 in parliament.

"The proposed amendments raise significant concerns regarding their potential impact on the operational viability, autonomy, and effectiveness of the non-profit sector," Hek argued, while urging the Prime Minister for a consultative review of the proposed legislation with all stakeholders.
