Shillong, June 16 -- Meghalaya now allocates eight percent of its total state budget to health-the highest in the country, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Monday.
"Over the past seven years, the government has placed health at the forefront of its agenda. This commitment is reflected in our budgetary allocation, the highest in the country for the health sector which is a clear testament to our priorities," Sangma said while addressing the first Meghalaya Health Summit 2025.
The summit was organised by State department of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with the National Health Mission, and attended by senior officials, public health experts, and private healthcare stakeholders.
