Hyderabad, Dec. 11 -- Farmers from Rukmapur village in Chegunta mandal of Medak district approached the Telangana Farmers' Commission on Thursday, alleging that they suffered severe losses after sowing fake rice seeds supplied by a private company.
Around 40 farmers, who cultivated paddy on more than 100 acres, informed Commission Chairman Kodanda Reddy that the seed company had promised yields of 30-35 quintals per acre and an additional Rs 150 per quintal over the government's price at harvest. However, they said they did not even get 8 quintals per acre, leaving them unable to recover their investment.
