Chennai, Dec. 28 -- The high level meeting of the MDMK, a key ally of the ruling DMK-ledSecular Progress Alliance (SPA) on Sunday flayed the BJP government at the Centre for renamingthe MGNREGS scheme and removing the name of Mahatma Gandhi for it out of hatred and vengeancetowards him.
A resolution adopted at the meeting, chaired y MDMK General Secretary and former Rajya Sabhamember Vaiko, also strongly condemned the centre for adopting indifferent attitude towards non-BJPruled states in allocation of funds.
On the MGNREGS scheme, it accused te centre of consistenly reducing the allocation for the schemeever since the BJP government assumed office and reducing the number of working days from 100 to 40per year, affecting lakhs of workers ...
