Nagpur/Amravati, July 30 -- In a rare and medically significant case, doctors at a private hospital in Maharashtra's Amravati city successfully removed nearly half a kilogram of hairball from the stomach of a girl through surgery, sources said here today.
Sources further said that a 10-year-old girl had reportedly been suffering from digestive problems for several months and was brought to the hospital 20 days ago with symptoms including persistent vomiting, loss of appetite and weight loss.
During medical counselling, the child revealed that she had a long-standing habit of eating her own hair, a behavioural condition known as trichophagia, said paediatric surgeon Dr. Usha Gajbhiye while talking to UNI.
