Dehradun, Jan. 28 -- Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that marriages solemnised on the false identity of a person will be annulled. Dhami also assured strict measures by his government against people resorting to polygamy.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Chief Minister stated that his government recently made necessary amendments in the Uniform Civil Code of Uttarakhand (UCC), inducting a provision for nullifying marriages conducted on false identities. Dhami said, "Marriages can now be annulled if true identity is concealed or false information is provided at the time of marriage by any individual under the amended provisions of the UCC enforced in the Himalayan state.
