Colombo, Feb. 15 -- South Africa captain Aiden Markram said his team is edging closer to its full potential after a convincing seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
South Africa completed the chase with 17 balls to spare, registering their third successive win in Group D and confirming qualification for the Super 8 stage.
Leading from the front, Markram struck an unbeaten 86 off 44 balls, laced with 12 boundaries, to anchor a comfortable chase. However, fast bowler Marco Jansen earned the Player of the Match award for his decisive spell of 4 for 40, which derailed New Zealand's innings after a brisk Powerplay start.
