Bhubaneswar, June 13 -- Noted environmentalist and "Water Man" Dr. Rajendra Singh on Friday said that many rivers in Odisha are on the verge of dying.
Addressing the Odisha River Protection Conference here, Dr. Singh expressed serious concern over the deteriorating condition of the state's rivers, stating that "the health of Odisha's rivers is in a critical state."
He warned that the overall well-being of the state is intrinsically linked to the health of its rivers, saying, "If the rivers are not healthy, the state cannot remain healthy."
Dr. Singh emphasized that the Odisha government must take urgent and effective steps to protect rivers, giving top priority to their conservation.
