Pune, Feb. 9 -- Manjusha Nagpure of the BJP was elected unopposed as the Pune Mayor on Monday.

Parshuram Wadekar-originally from the RPI and elected on the BJP symbol-was elected as Deputy Mayor.

NCP's Shital Sawant and Congress's Ashwini Landge withdrew from the mayoral election, while NCP's Dattatraya Bahirat and Congress's Sahil Kedari withdrew from the deputy mayoral election.

As the BJP holds an absolute majority in the Pune Municipal Corporation, the victory of Nagpure and Wadekar in this election was certain. Both were elected unopposed.
