Imphal, Oct. 2 -- Manipur Police carried out a series of intensified operations in Thoubal district, resulting in the rescue of two abducted persons, the seizure of heroin, and the arrest of vehicle lifters.
In a major action yesterday, Thoubal Police rescued two persons who had been abducted and confined at a fish farm in Lilong Dolaithabi. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh for their release.
Police arrested one accused, Md. Sultan Ahmed, from the Waithou Pat area. Officers also recovered five live cartridges of a DBBL gun from the victims' confinement site. Efforts are underway to apprehend the other accused involved in the abduction.
