Imphal, Oct. 8 -- A plea has been submitted to the Governor of Manipur seeking urgent intervention to prevent the demolition of the historic Red Land Building in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Dr RK Ranjan, former union Minister said in a letter to the Governor AK Bhalla that the building holds immense significance as the site where His Highness Maharaja Bodhachandra Singh of Manipur signed the Manipur Merger Agreement in 1949, a landmark event in the political and constitutional history of Manipur.

Dr. R. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh emphasized that the Red Land Building is not merely an architectural structure but a symbol of the sovereignty transition and a key part of the collective memory of the people of Manipur.
