Imphal, Jan. 14 -- Drivers' and truck owners' organization in Manipur on Wednesday jointly observed the 37th Manipur Drivers' Day at the Manipur Press Club, renewing their demand for a comprehensive insurance scheme to safeguard drivers and their families.
Manipur Drivers Association (MDA) General Secretary Sanjoy Kshetrimayum said drivers remain among the most vulnerable occupational groups due to high accident rates, occupational health risks, unsafe road conditions, and prolonged working hours. He urged the government to introduce a dedicated insurance policy that would provide financial protection in the event of accidents, disability, or death while on duty.
