Shahjahanpur, Feb. 15 -- Sonpal, who had been sentenced to life imprisonment last month in a murder and robbery case, was found dead after being missing since January 13. His body was recovered three days ago from a forest area near Pingra-Pingri village in Tilhar, police said on Saturday.
Sonpal's son, Balveer, alleged that his father had been called by villagers Ramchandra and his brother Sachin on January 13, after which he went missing. A missing report was filed on January 23.
Police had recovered an unidentified body from the forest on February 11 and preserved it in the mortuary after failing to identify it. Balveer later identified the body as that of his father through media reports on Friday.
