Amethi, Feb. 15 -- A 55-year-old man was allegedly murdered with an axe in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh while sleeping at his tube well in a field, police said on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Shiv Prasad, was allegedly murdered on Saturday night. He was a resident of Pure Ghisei hamlet in Lehi village under Mohanganj police station limits. When he did not return home on Sunday morning, family members went to the tube well and found his blood-soaked body.
Police officials, including Circle Officer Dinesh Mishra and Inspector Rakesh Singh, reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was sent for postmortem examination.
