Palghar, Jan. 14 -- A Makar Sankranti visit to relatives ended in tragedy for a forty-year-old man and his sixteen-year-old daughter, who drowned in a water-filled quarry in the Virar area of Palghar district on Wednesday while attempting to rescue each other, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Vinayak Sitam and his daughter Ishita, residents of Jogeshwari in Mumbai. The father and daughter had travelled to Virar to visit their relatives residing in the Barafpada area, which is located near the quarry where the incident occurred.
