Siliguri, March 24 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Christian community at Chalsa in the northern part of the state, signalling an aggressive outreach to minority and tea-garden populations ahead of the Assembly elections.

She also visited St. Lucy Church in Jalpaiguri district, and interacted with the leaders of the Christian community.

Banerjee, who arrived at Chalsa in the Dooars region earlier in the day, was received by locals and members of the clergy, including church fathers from across the tea belt.
