Kolkata, Jan. 5 -- : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee escalated her attack on the Election Commission over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls on Monday, alleging that the process was being carried out without adequate preparation, resulting in widespread harassment of the public.

The criticism of the election commission came a day after she wrote to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, flagging what she described as serious flaws in the conduct of the exercise and questioning the Commission's functioning.

Speaking from Gangasagar, the Chief Minister indicated that the ruling Trinamool Congress was preparing to take legal recourse against the SIR.
