Siliguri, April 4 -- Mofakkerul Islam, a key accused arrested in connection with the confinement of seven judicial officers in Malda district, has been remanded to 14 days of police custody, while his associate Ekramul has been sent to police custody for several days, a source said on Friday.
Police have begun interrogating both in connection with Wednesday's unrest at Mothabari in Malda district.
The duo was intercepted by the CID and Siliguri police on Friday and later handed over to Malda police, who arrested them on charges of being key instigators behind the violence in Mothabari and Kaliachak.
