New Delhi, April 24 -- In a major political development that reshapes the balance in Parliament, seven Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have resigned from the party and announced their decision to merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), inflicting a massive setback on AAP's presence in the Upper House.

Addressing a joint press conference, Raghav Chadha, along with Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, said that more than two-thirds of AAP's Rajya Sabha MPs have decided to invoke constitutional provisions to formalise their merger with the BJP.
