Kolkata, Jan. 5 -- Just before the crucial assembly polls in the state, the West Bengal government effected a major reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring 26 senior IPS and WBPS officers with immediate effect on Monday.

The shake-up is led by significant changes at the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) levels, impacting key ranges and specialised wings.

At the top level, Anoop Jaiswal, who was serving as DIG, Midnapore Range in the rank of IG, has been transferred and posted as IGP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), West Bengal.
