Mumbai, Jan. 5 -- A Muslim woman has filed a police complaint accusing a group of individuals of harassing and criminally intimidating her at a retail outlet in the adjacent Palghar district of Maharashtra, allegedly because she was wearing a Hijab - a head covering, an officer said on Monday.
A hijab is worn by members of the Muslim community to adhere to the Islamic principle of modesty.
The victim detailed the alleged incident in a video statement that later circulated widely on social media.
The management of the D-Mart outlet in Yashwant Nagar of Virar city was not available for comment.
