Nagpur, Feb. 22 -- A woman was killed in a tiger attack in the Deolapar area of Ramtek taluka in Maharashtra's Nagpur district, amid rising concerns over human-wildlife conflict around the Pench Tiger Reserve, officials said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday, when the victim, identified as Mukta Jogadya Marskholhe, was working in an agricultural field near Savra village along with her husband when a tiger reportedly pounced on them.

Forest officials said the attack was so sudden and severe that the woman died on the spot, while her husband sustained minor injuries.

Local farmers who witnessed the attack alerted other villagers, who rushed to the field in large numbers.
