Mumbai, March 27 -- Police in neighbouring Thane city detained a youth who later apologized for making a false claim of lockdown in a social media post which triggered panic among residents, officials said here today.
According to the details available, the youth, identified as Arham Uzair Azharuddin, a resident of Mumbra, had recorded and circulated a vide o on social media, falsely claiming that a strict lockdown would be imposed in the area from midnight. The clip quickly went viral, leading to fear and confusion among locals.
When it came to the notice of Mumbra police station's cyber department, a team of police traced the accused and detained him.
