Parbhani, Sept. 10 -- A comprehensive survey in rural Parbhani has identified 34,733 single women, with approximately 93 per cent being widows and over 52 per cent aged above 60.
The survey was initiated by Minister of State for Women and Child Development Meghna Sakore Bordikar and conducted with the help of Anganwadi workers.
The Gram Panchayat area survey has been completed, while a similar exercise is currently underway in Nagar Panchayat, Municipality, and Municipal Corporation areas. The findings from the completed survey revealed that about 73.83 per cent of these women are illiterate and more than 55 per cent are dependent on agricultural labour.
