Nashik, April 15 -- Driven by the rising trend among vehicle owners to purchase a vehicle registration number of their choice-or a particularly 'fancy' one, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has witnessed a substantial increase in revenue this year, recording a whopping rise of Rs 5,35,18,500 compared to the previous year.

During the financial year 2025-26, the total revenue of Rs 19,59,39,000 was collected through this channel, with 14,638 vehicle owners opting for these 'VIP' numbers.

The RTO typically generates regular revenue through vehicle registration, licence issuance, renewals, professional tax and environmental tax.
