Chandrapur, April 5 -- A 58-year-old man was killed in a tiger attack while collecting mahua (moha) flowers in a forest area of Nagbhid taluka in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, officials said today.

The deceased has been identified as Haridas Mahadev Kubde, a resident of Navegaon (Minthur) village under the Nagbhid forest range.

According to sources, Kubde had gone to a nearby forest area on Saturday morning to collect mahua flowers but did not return home by evening, prompting family members to launch a search.

During the search, his nephew, Akshay Kubde, reportedly spotted two tigers along with two cubs near the farm area and returned home out of fear.

Subsequently, Kubde's body was found in the forest on Sunday morning.
