Nagpur, March 7 -- Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Durugkar, who lost his life in a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft crash in Assam, was cremated with full state honours here today amid chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Purvesh Durugkar Amar Rahe".

The last rites were performed at the Manewada cremation ground in south Nagpur in the presence of hundreds of citizens, relatives and officials.

Durugkar was killed in the fighter jet crash in Karbi Anglong district of Assam during a training mission.

Another pilot, Squadron Leader Anuj, also died in the accident.

According to reports, the aircraft had taken off from the Jorhat Airbase but lost contact shortly afterwards. The wreckage was later found about 60 km away from the airbase.
