Nagpur, April 7 -- A total of 405 criminal cases are pending against sitting and former Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in district and sessions courts across Maharashtra, with the Mumbai division accounting for the highest number, according to official data.

The cases include serious offences such as murder, rape, attempt to murder, fraud, breach of trust, armed robbery, criminal intimidation and obstruction of government work.

Region-wise, the Mumbai division tops the list with 226 pending cases, followed by Aurangabad division with 106 cases and Nagpur division with 73 cases.
