Akola, April 30 -- At least 10 women labourers were injured after a car rammed into a stationary goods vehicle on the Akola-Washim highway near Medshi in Maharashtra on Thursday morning, police said.

According to officials, the women were seated in a goods vehicle parked along the roadside and were on their way to nearby Ridhora for agricultural work when a speeding car, heading from Washim towards Akola, crashed into the vehicle from behind.

The impact of the collision was severe, causing the car to overturn and leaving the goods vehicle badly damaged.

Ten women travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries in the accident.

Local residents rushed to the spot and assisted in rescue efforts before police arrived.
