Mumbai, April 16 -- The Maharashtra government plans to introduce water taxi services across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) , said state Ports Minister Nitesh Rane.
Talking to media persons on Wednesday, he said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared, with eight to nine routes identified for this innovative transport system.
He further said these vessels will not only help decongest the roads but also reduce pollution in the region.
Existing wooden boats will continue to operate, giving commuters the freedom to choose their preferred mode of water transport, much like road-based aggregator services.
