Mumbai, June 2 -- The Maharashtra government proposes to start water taxis from Radio Jetty at Gateway of India to Navi Mumbai Airport, Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane said on Monday.
Urging the Ports Department to complete the planning for the project, Rane instructed officials to prepare proposals to build jetties.
Speaking at a meeting in the mantralaya (state secretariat) regarding the start of water taxis, the Minister said the construction of terminals for water taxis should be started in a phased manner.
He also urged the Airport Authority to submit proposals for necessary permissions for the project. He said spots should be earmarked to build jetties for cargo transport as well.
