Mumbai, Jan. 29 -- The Nashik-Mumbai farmers' long march, organised under the banner of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Maharashtra, was suspended on Thursday at the Shahapur-Bhatsa Phata stretch after the state government assured farmers on their long-pending demands.

Thousands of farmers were marching towards Mumbai as a protest. The decision to suspend the march was taken following a detailed talks between representatives of the agitating farmers and Ayush Prasad, the Nashik District Collector, who visited the protest site and held discussions with the marchers.
