Gadchiroli, Jan. 2 -- A nine-month-pregnant woman died along with her unborn child after being forced to walk nearly six kilometres to seek medical care for delivery in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district on January 2, highlighting persistent gaps in healthcare and road connectivity in remote tribal areas, officials said.
The woman, identified as Asha Santosh Kiranga (24), a resident of Aldandi Tola in Etapalli taluka, began experiencing labour pain on January 1.
With no motorable road or delivery facility in her village, she walked through a forest route with her husband to reach her sister's house in Petha, around six kilometres away.
