Mumbai, June 15 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday announced that the state government will provide financial assistance of Rs five lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the bridge collapse incident on the Indrayani river near Talegaon in Pune district.

He said that the state government will also bear the cost for the medical treatment of the injured. Prime Minister Narendar Modi who is currently in Cyprus, spoke to CM Fadnavis over phone about the bridge collapse near Pune. He was briefed on ongoing efforts to assist those affected. UNI AAA SS
