Chennai, Feb. 25 -- The Madras High Court has dismissed a writ petition
seeking to disallow the Mahashivarathri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Centre in
Coimbatore from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.
A Division Bench of Justices S.M. Subramaniam and K. Rajasekar dismissed
the plea after the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) submitted that
Isha Foundation had made seating arrangements for 60,000 people for the
Mahashivarathri celebrations last year and had complied with all the norms
prescribed by it.
The TNPCB also informed that the officials would monitor the ambient noise
level during this year's celebrations, and check whether it remains within the
permissible limit of 75 dB(A).
