Chennai, Aug. 1 -- Dravidian naming spree of state-funded schemes after ideological icons and current as well as former Chief Ministers has met with judicial ire with Madras High Court on Friday restraining the Tamil Nadu Government from using the names of any living personality in the nomenclature of new or re-branded government welfare programmes.

The First Bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice Sunder Mohan, in an interim order, also prohibited the display of portraits, pictures of former Chief Ministers or ideological icons as well as insignia/emblem/flag of the ruling DMK in the publicity materials for those government schemes.
