Siliguri, March 13 -- An ongoing shortage of LPG cylinders across North Bengal over the past few days has triggered public concern and political reactions ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Consumers were seen standing in long queues at LPG distribution centres on Friday, with many reporting difficulties in booking cylinders online. Several residents said they had not received deliveries even after booking more than a week earlier.

Amid the crisis, leaders and supporters of All India Trinamool Congress organised a motorcycle rally in Cooch Behar protesting the shortage and alleging black marketing of domestic and commercial cylinders at inflated prices.
