New Delhi, April 6 -- The Government on Monday said it is maintaining close surveillance over food security, fuel supplies, and the safety of Indian nationals and maritime assets amid the evolving situation in West Asia, while asserting that adequate reserves and robust systems are in place to prevent any disruption.

Providing an update on maritime operations, Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said that two Indian-flag vessels Green Sanghvi and Green Asha carrying LPG have safely transited the Strait of Hormuz in the past two days. Currently, 16 Indian-flagged vessels with 433 Indian seafarers are operating in the Western Persian Gulf region.
