Bhubaneswar, Aug. 22 -- Several parts of Odisha are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, from August 22 to 26, according to a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today.

The IMD said a low-pressure area has formed over Gangetic West Bengal and its adjoining areas under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards with height.

In addition, a fresh low-pressure system is likely to develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts, around August 25.
