Amaravati, Nov. 16 -- The northeast monsoon remains weak over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Rayalaseema.
The low-pressure area that formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka coast on Saturday continued to persist over the same region at 0830 hours on Sunday, according to the Meteorological Centre.
In its daily weather report, the Met Centre noted that the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwest with height. The system is expected to move slowly in a west-northwest direction over the next 24 hours.
